Why did I Do This?

Hi, I am Benico van der Westhuizen. I am a mechanical engineer and an opensource enthusiast. A few years back my IT company did business with other small enterprises. It became obvious that micro enterprises need to acquire a working understanding of accounting.

With accounting up to matric, and an MBA, I did all my books, VAT, Financial Statements & Tax returns myself. I used GnuCash.

After a few years working with GnuCash the penny dropped. A a solid understanding of engineering principles combined with the workings of GnuCash, helped me to grasp the basic principle of accounting.
